TO: Management at the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA)
FROM: SEAACA Employees and Members of SEIU Local 721 as well as our Community Allies
SEAACA management has been negotiating in bad faith with our Union for months. We, the employees of SEAACA – who are members of SEIU Local 721 – have been working without a contract for more than nine months despite our numerous attempts to negotiate for a deal. Continual stalling on the part of SEAACA management and their refusal to be forthcoming with basic information pertinent to contract bargaining proves that they are negotiating with us in bad faith. This is unacceptable.
We, the workforce, firmly believe in SEAACA’s mission. This fact is indisputable given how we continue to fulfill our workplace duties at SEAACA despite management’s offensive actions, the absence of a contract, and the fact that we have been bargaining for months – close to a year. To date, SEAACA management still has not even put an economic proposal for wages on the table.
We have not been protected, we have not been respected, and we are not being adequately paid. Unacceptable working conditions and workloads continue to demoralize us. The ongoing insults and incompetence demonstrated by SEAACA management directly contribute to the negative working conditions that we continually endure and the staff retention issues that we perpetually experience.
The arrogant attitude of SEAACA management is an act of disrespect not just to us but to the taxpayers and general public that we serve throughout the cities of Bell Gardens, Bellflower, Buena Park, Downey, Lakewood, La Palma, Montebello, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, South Gate, and Vernon.
As such, we the undersigned employees of SEAACA and members of SEIU 721 – along with undersigned community allies among the general public – hereby submit this petition of “No Confidence” in SEAACA management.
