Whereas, the Governor's budget for the state of California includes a $13.5 billion reserve, the stock market is at an all-time high, unemployment is at a 17-year low, and LA County's financial condition is strong; and,

Whereas, the cost-of-living in the Los Angeles metropolitan increased by 3.6% in the past year alone; and,

Whereas, demand for public services in LA County is greater than ever, from social services that keep our communities intact, to medical care that keeps working families healthy, to law enforcement services that keep our neighborhoods safe, to recreation and library services that improve our quality of life; therefore,

WE CALL ON YOUR BOARD to demonstrate that you value the men and women who provide these critical services each and every day by making a fair and reasonable investment in your employees.

DON'T SHORT-CHANGE LA COUNTY'S WORKING FAMILIES!
