Dear CEO Davenport:

As you finalize your recommendations for the upcoming LA County Budget for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, I and my fellow members of SEIU 721 insist that you include Heroes Pay for All.

It is because of our labor that LA County remained open the COVID-19 pandemic – and it is because of our labor that LA County will continue to function when the pandemic is behind us. Our labor powers the hospitals, the clinics, the roads, the beaches, the harbors, the parks and myriad social services ranging from mental health treatment to help for children, families, the elderly and society’s most vulnerable. Our labor makes public safety possible and helps maintain public health.

For more than one year, our labor has kept LA County functioning while everything else was on the verge of falling apart. Many of us have put our lives at risk. Some of our union colleagues even paid the ultimate price. We, the members of SEIU 721, nonetheless did our duty so that the nearly 11 million people of LA County would still have a place to call home.

We are the safety net and we have kept it intact during the worst public healthcare crisis in a century. We have more than proven our value as essential workers. We have earned Heroes Pay for All – and we demand it be included in your proposed budget to be considered by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
